Casiotone for the Painfully Alone Calling It Quits?

BY Alex HudsonPublished Jul 6, 2010

Songwriter Owen Ashworth has been touring and recording as Casiotone for the Painfully Alone for over a decade, last year releasing the excellent Vs. Children as well as the odds-and-ends compilation Advance Battery Life. Now, it looks as if Ashworth might be throwing in the towel.

Although there's no official announcement currently available, the tour section of his website reads, "Final North American tour in September/October 2010 Final European tour in October/November 2010."

Although the full dates aren't currently announced, we can confirm that he will be playing Vancouver's Biltmore Cabaret on September 15. Next to the show's listing on the Biltmore's website, it says, "Last Vancouver show ever!!!" More dates are listed below.

This news comes somewhat out of the blue, as Ashworth's news update from last month says nothing about this tour being his last. A post written in April also says that he is collaborating with Chicago rapper Serengeti.

Update: In an email to Exclaim!, Ashworth has declined to comment on the status of CFTPA, but says, "I'll be making an announcement via my website in a couple of weeks." So stay tuned.
