Libertines member Carl Barât and his band the Jackals had been planning to tour North America in support of the new album Let It Reign, but now their plans have changed, as they've cancelled nearly all of the dates.
We say "nearly" because the band are still going to be heading to Austin's SXSW in March. But aside from that, they've cancelled all of the U.S. gigs, plus the lone Canadian stop in Vancouver on March 7.
Barât announced the news on Facebook, blaming the cancellation on "the universe (and some impossible scheduling issues)." The dates have been cancelled outright, rather than postponed, although he did add that the band "will see the rest of you hopefully very soon."
His statement is as follows:
It's with a very heavy heart that me and the boys have to cancel our run of shows in North America. We were all looking forward to this, but alas the universe (and some impossible scheduling issues) have been against us this time. We'll still be out there for SXSW in Austin and will see the rest of you hopefully very soon. X
It looks as if their impending European dates will still be going ahead. See the updated schedule below.
