Cadence Weapon vs. Final Fantasy

"CBC Radio Sessions"

Last year's Polaris Music Prize brought together a pretty satisfying group of diversified artists, but none seemed to mesh as well as Final Fantasy (Owen Pallett) and Cadence Weapon (Rollie Pemberton). Eye Weekly put them in battle mode on their cover the week of the Polaris ceremony, and judging by their continuous association the pair have become best buddies.

Recently CBC Radio put this friendship to work, hosting a recording session between the two solo artists. The result is a six-song session gracefully hosted by the Good Hodgkins blog. As you'd expect, they both revel in the opportunity to add a spin to the other's compositions, but sadly neither go the extra mile vocally. Nonetheless, it's still worth checking out each of the six.
