This week's DVD roundup is overflowing with releases of hit television series, films and band documentaries. To read more about what's up for grabs, visit our Recently Reviewed section of Exclaim.ca and check some highlights below.
Beginning with the two film releases, we have a girls-night-out comedy and a war drama. The hit slapstick comedy Bridesmaids (pictured) stars SNL's Kristen Wiig as a disastrous maid of honour who fails at everything wedding and non-wedding related. The second movie, which is a war mystery titled Incendies, is based on a play about twins who fulfil their mothers dying wishes by travelling to the Middle East on a search for their brother.
For TV series, Two and a Half Men: The Complete Eighth Season is available. This short season is Charlie Sheen's last with the program. Another popular comedy reviewed is The Big Bang Theory: The Complete Forth Season. For this season, the geeky gang moves into new territory with more female cast members and greater romantic plots (especially for Sheldon, played by Jim Parsons). If you are a Gleek, Glee: The Complete Second Season is out and comes with an abundance of extra features, including a behind-the-scenes set design and making-of clips.
In case comedies are not your thing, we also have a couple of television dramas. The sci-fi mystery Fringe: Season Three is now available. This season is all about the characters facing an alternate dimension. The DVD also features an intricate look into the shows special effects such as stunts, props and creating an alternate reality. Last on our television series list is a historical mini-series The Kennedys.
Finally, we have two music documentaries out this week. We're the Weakerthans We're from Winnipeg is a rockumentary following the band on their 2009 cross-Canada tour. If that doesn't satisfy you, we have another rockumetary titled Club, which is about the Jesus Lizard Club and shows the adventure of the veteran band's reunion tour after a ten-year hiatus.
