This weekend is a big one for religious holidays, but for those not celebrating Passover or turning their homes upside-down in search of Easter eggs (and even for those that are), why not take the opportunity to celebrate music by going out to a concert or two? We've highlight some big ones coming the week of April 17-23 below, but if nothing tickles your fancy, be sure to take a peek out our complete Concert Listings for more shows near you.
Avenged Sevenfold
Hard rock quintet Avenged Sevenfold will be dropping into Edmonton and Winnipeg this week for a couple of shows. Though these are the last dates on their tour for 2013's Hail to the King this month, the band will be returning across the border for some Quebec shows next month and a Toronto show in July, giving Canadian fans a few chances to catch the band live.
04/17 Edmonton, AB – Shaw Conference Centre
04/19 Winnipeg, MB – MTS Centre
Black Sabbath
Doom-y metal masters Black Sabbath will be finishing up the Canadian leg of their tour this week with shows in Saskatoon, Calgary and Edmonton. There are no more Canadian dates scheduled after these, so fans shouldn't miss out on these opportunities to see these living legends before they disappear to parts unknown.
04/18 Saskatoon, SK – Credit Union Centre
04/20 Calgary, AB – Scotiabank Saddledome
04/22 Edmonton, AB – Rexall Place
S. Carey
Bon Iver multi-instrumentalist S. Carey is touring his brand new folksy solo record Range of Light and will be making stops in Toronto and Montreal this week. For fans too far west to attend these shows, fear not. He recently announced a second North American tour with shows in Winnipeg, Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver in June and July.
04/18 Montreal, QC – Il Motore
04/19 Toronto, ON – The Garrison
Loop
Newly reformed English shoegazers Loop have embarked on their first North American tour in 24 years and are stopping by Montreal and Toronto this week. This is an incredibly rare opportunity to see the band perform live, and considering these two are the only Canadian dates on the tour, fans will not want to miss out.
04/21 Montreal, QC – La Sala Rossa
04/22 Toronto, ON – Wrongbar
The Men
With Tomorrow's Hits — their fifth album in as many years — finally out, Brooklyn indie rock band the Men have embarked on a tour that will bring them to Vancouver for a show at the Electric Owl this week. Concertgoers can expect to hear plenty of the band's new tracks, and with this being the only Canadian date this month, fans on the west coast won't want to miss out on experiencing their energetic live show.
04/18 Vancouver, BC – Electric Owl
Sam Smith
English R&B singer Sam Smith is closing up his North American tour this week with a stop in Toronto to play the Virgin Mobile Mod Club, marking the last Canadian date scheduled so far this year. With his debut studio album In the Lonely Hour approaching its May 26 release, fans will no doubt hear plenty of cuts off the new record, including his new single "Stay with Me."
04/23 Toronto, ON – Virgin Mobile Mod Club
