Montreal-based two-piece Birds of Paradise are set to unveil their new EP Love Is Confusion this week, but before it lands, Exclaim! is giving you an early listen to it.

Melding together the musical minds of Roy Vucino and Hannah Lewis, the duo have spent the last few years recording as Red Mass. Love Is Confusion introduces the band under their new moniker, delivering soft, soulful folk songs with a modern twist as Birds of Paradise.

The new three-song collection opens with the title track "Love Is Confusion," which begins with Lewis taking the reins on vocals, backed by piano that slowly builds to include thundering acoustic guitar and Vucino's rugged harmonies. "Like Sun Shines" slows things down a bit, showcasing the smoothness and ease with which the pair's voices intertwine and complement one another. It comes to a close with "Baby Daughters," which introduces booming percussion into the mix and plays with electronica-tinged distortion.

Love Is Confusion is officially out June 19. It will arrive on vinyl through Dusty Medical Records and digitally through REC-A Records.

The band will be playing NXNE at the Silver Dollar on June 20. Until then, get psyched for live show by streaming the new EP in the player below.
