Canadian bicoastal bedroom-pop duo Bestfriend — recent alumni of Exclaim!'s New Faves — have announced a new EP, places i've left, a companion piece to 2021's places i've lived. They've also released a new single from the effort, the wistful "Someplace Else."

"'Someplace Else' is a song about crushes and daydreaming, really," the duo explained of the track in a release. "It's about thinking back fondly on time you spent with someone and fantasizing about spending it again. It's about journaling on a train. It's about puppy love and a summer romance begging to be more. Feeling understood by someone in a way that feels special you don't recognize. It's optimistic and positive and genuinely happy."

Much like their previous EP, places i've left was produced entirely by the duo. The record is planned for a summer 2022 release. Further details have yet to be unveiled.

The group — comprised of Stacy Kim and Kaelan Geoffrey — formed through a mutual friend and began making music together despite being on opposite sides of the country.
