In recent years, Ben Harper has shied away from the nouveau-folk stylings of his past, choosing to focus his efforts on guitar-based blues rock and filthy solos. But for the 2014 edition of Starbucks' now annual Valentine's Day Compilation, Sweetheart, the singer-songwriter decided to take a softer approach, producing a piano-based cover of Mazzy Star's 1994 single "Fade Into You."
Taking its cues from the acoustic guitar/piano driven original, Harper perfectly evokes the candid crooning of singer Hope Sandoval, delivering a fluttery rendition with sparkling keys and emotional vocals.

Starbucks' new Sweetheart compilation arrives just in time for your next makeout session on February 4 through Hear Music/Concord Music Group.
