UK post-punk Billy Nomates had her Glastonbury set taken off BBC's website after a slew of online hate comments were hurled at her.

Nomates (née Tor Maries) asked for her performance to be scrubbed from social media after she received "personal abuse" for her production. Most of the comments seemed geared towards her not having a band and performing to a backing track instead.

"The level of personal abuse on @bbc6music socials for going to work today is insane. I've asked for all footage to be removed," the musician posted to her Instagram story. "I know it's not for everyone what I do. I know lots of people don't rate me. But the level of personal abuse on that public page is too much."

She then went on to say that she will no longer tour following her remaining obligations: "There will be no more shows after this summer. You wouldn't stay in a workplace that did this to you. Why should I."

While the clip provoking the hate has been taken down from socials, the full set is still available on iPlayer. Regarding the removal, a BBC spokesperson said [via The Independent], "We want 6 Music to be a place where brilliant artists such as Billy Nomates are celebrated and supported, and we have respected Tor's request to have the clip posted on our social channels removed."

Following the hate, many artists have spoken out in support of Nomates, including Billy Bragg, the Libertines, LOW's Adam Sparhawk and Portishead's Geoff Barrow.

Nomates's most recent release is this year's CACTI.
