Bandcamp has announced the launch of Bandcamp Live, a new livestreaming feature that will allow artists to hold virtual ticketed performances through the site.
Fully integrated within Bandcamp's platform, Bandcamp Live will offer a virtual merch table, live chat and will allow artists to set their own ticket prices. The site will take a 10 percent fee of ticket sales, though it has waived the fee entirely until March 31, 2021.
Alongside the livestream launch, Bandcamp has lined up performances from Hatchie, Madison McFerrin, Cloud Nothings, Pedro the Lion, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith and more. You can find a complete performance calendar here.
"Streaming will never replace the experience of in-person performances," Bandcamp writes. "But we believe it's the next best thing, and will provide artists with a powerful tool to build and connect with their fans both now, and when COVID is behind us and we're all out enjoying the magic of live music once again."
