While the hype behind English blues rock trio Band of Skulls tapered off a bit following the release of their acclaimed debut Baby Darling Doll Face Honey, news of a new record deal and a forthcoming LP have the band back on our radar.
A press release confirms that the group have inked up with California's Vagrant, in conjunction with their own Electric Blues Recordings, for a release sometime in 2012. PHI is attached to release the disc in Canada.
Song sketches for the sophomore set were written in Norfolk, UK, but the album was actually recorded at the outfit's home studio in Southampton and at Rockfield Studios in Wales. Producer Ian Davenport (Supergrass, Badly Drawn Boy) manned the boards and Nick Launay (Grinderman, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Arcade Fire) was in charge of mixing.
A full tracklisting for the as-yet-unnamed affair has yet to appear, but the band recently unveiled the video for crunchy, Black Keys-styled first single, "The Devil Takes Care of His Own." You can see the martial arts-minded clip below. You'll also be able to download the track via iTunes on December 6.
