Band of Rascals

'Tempest' (EP stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Oct 6, 2017

Vancouver four-piece Band of Rascals release their new EP Tempest next week, and Exclaim! is giving you an advance listen to the record right now.

The seven-song offering was recorded at the Warehouse with producer Eric Ratz, who helped capture the band's blend of hard rock and old-school Southern blues.

The EP is a raucous ride from the wailing twang of opener "Holler" to crunchy cuts like "Seas Coming Down" and "Control," and eventually on to the expansive classic rock vibes of closer "Reaction."

"We wanted this album to break us apart from the classic rock status quo, that a lot of Canadian rock bands are stuck in," the band tell Exclaim! "We wanted to go sonically heavier and deeper to bring something fresh to the table; something that would turn heads and still give a nod to our rock genre roots."
