As we've made perfectly clear in our Summer Music Festival Guide, Canada is a good place to be if you enjoy seeing bands in wide open spaces instead of dingy bars. While some festivals have tragically fallen by the wayside, others remain staples year after year. Take, for example, the world-renowned Winnipeg Folk Festival, which has roped in a massive 80-plus-artist line-up.

For its 37th year, the Winnipeg Folk Festival will attract a wide spectrum of performers from Sarah Harmer to hip-hoppers Arrested Development. The full line-up also includes appearances from Emmylou Harris, the Levon Helm Band, Gord Downie and the Country of Miracles, Andrew Bird, the Swell Season, the Rural Alberta Advantage, the Dodos, Konono N° 1, Greg Macpherson, John K. Samson and many others.

The festival runs from July 7 to 11, and passes are currently on sale. If you snatch your tickets before June 30, a full five-day pass will run you just over $200. After that, the price goes up $20.
