Ali Koehler's Upset Detail Debut Album, Share New Single

Having parted ways with Vivian Girls and Best Coast, drummer-turned-frontwoman Ali Koehler has spent 2013 launching her own band called Upset with former Hole drummer Patty Schemel and guitarist Jennifer Prince. Their debut full-length is called She's Gone, and it's out on October 29 through Don Giovanni Records.

The album was largely recorded at Koehler's house this past April with Kyle Gilbride of Brooklyn pop-punk act Swearin'. According to a press release, Koehler's songs "[draw] on the snarky angst and punk simplicity of her previous bands, with a delivery that masks angry and cheeky lyrics with a sweet-sung and wide-eyed infliction."

The 12 concise songs clock in at just under 30 minutes. Prince takes over leading singing and songwriting on the track "Game Over."

The album is said to be "massively hooky" pop punk. For a taste of this, scroll past the tracklist below to stream the fuzzy, shoegaze-tinged single "Oxfords and Wingtips." Koehler may not have the vocal strength of Best Coast's Bethany Cosentino, but it's a pleasantly scrappy song.
