On June 7, Arctic Monkeys will release their fourth LP, the dubiously titled Suck It and See. Before that album drops, fans of the British garage rockers will be able to whet their appetites with singer Alex Turner's score for the film Submarine. The six-song set comes out tomorrow (March 15) in North America via Domino.
Here's a taste of the EP in the form of the final track, "Piledriver Waltz." It's labelled as a "Submarine trailer," but it looks more like a music video.
The song is a big departure from the snarky, electrified garage rock Turner is known for with Arctic Monkeys. A mid-tempo ballad laden with acoustic guitars and pianos, it recalls his previous side-project, the Last Shadow Puppets. The melancholic track is accompanied by footage from the movie, which will be released on this side of the Atlantic June 3.
