Saskatoon singer-songwriter Alex Bent is ready to unveil his latest single as Alex Bent + the Emptiness, and Exclaim! has got the exclusive premiere.
Despite the moniker, the project is the solo work of Bent, with the Emptiness representing an internal force. Self-described as "vast, expansive, textured and nuanced," the Emptiness is an "inseparable" part of him as a musician.
"Run Like Hell" is his latest offering, and it brings together samples from Wu-Tang Clan's "C.R.E.A.M." and Nine Inch Nails' "Hurt," forging a unique blend of R&B and industrial, with some emo-tinged pop glossiness painted on top for good measure.
The track is slated to appear on Bent's upcoming album Dead, In the Water, which is expected out this spring. Get an early glimpse into the new record by giving "Run Like Hell" an inaugural listen in the player below.
