A new non-profit organization will work to provide a unified voice and create long-term conditions for the success of Black people working in Canada's music industry.

The newly launched ADVANCE aims to develop an "infrastructure for the betterment, upliftment and retention of Black people in the music business."

"At the heart of the Canadian music industry lives brilliant artists, passionate creators and a vibrant mosaic of Black voices that have launched the biggest talents in the world," the organization writes on Instagram. "Today, more than ever, these voices need to be amplified."

As noted on the organization's website, ADVANCE will develop this infrastructure through addressing racial equality and inclusivity with regards to industry advocacy, mentorship, community outreach and business development and entrepreneurship.

"By holding the corporate, private and government sectors accountable, Advance is committed to building a more equitable Canadian music industry that grants Canada's Black music communities a fair and valued voice in a consistently growing music nation," the site reads.

ADVANCE can be followed on Twitter and Instagram, with further information available through the organization's official website.
