This summer, we identified "Springful" as one of the standout cuts from Adult Jazz's album Gist Is. Now, the Leeds combo have enlisted a little help from across the pond, as Seattle rap outfit Shabazz Palaces have remixed the song.
Shabazz Palaces send the soul-inflected tune on a trippy outer space voyage. The first half of the arrangement is an unsettling mix of warped minimalism, falsetto cooing and chopped-up editing. Halfway through, it shifts into a slightly more groove-oriented electronic strut, although the mood is still decidedly dark.
