It's been four years now since Adrian Glynn delivered debut album Bruise, but the Vancouver singer-songwriter is hopping in the spotlight once again to deliver a sophomore follow-up. While morelightthannolight sees release October 14 via Light Organ Records, you can stream the whole thing now exclusively through Exclaim!
While Bruise was a stripped-back collection, a press release notes that Glynn went maximalist alongside his producers, the Zolas' Tom Dobrzanski and Zach Gray. Together they work tender piano lines, airy whooshes and boomed beats on "Guardian," mesh bayou banjo with snap beats and '80s electro keys for "Old Cadogan Hotel," and produce a playful hop-and-skip beat for "Patient."
"We wanted to keep the intimacy and signature quality of Adrian's voice, but juxtapose his often solemn melodies with all the cool synths and drum machines we had at Monarch [studios]," Gray said in a statement of the album's direction. "It made for a tasty balance point between hype and melancholy."
An album about the "twilight of youth, growing older as an audience and finding peace in uncertain times," you'll find morelightthannolight streaming below.
Tour dates:
10/27 Vancouver, BC - The Emerald
11/01 Toronto, ON - Burdock
