Rockfest returned to Montebello, QC, this past weekend, but the hard-rockin' musical event was marred by tragedy on Saturday (June 24).
A 62-year-old man from Ontario was found dead outside the gates of the festival. A passerby reportedly found him on the sidewalk around 11 a.m. The man was found unconscious and emergency responders were unable to resuscitate him.
He was taken to a regional hospital and declared dead at 11:45 a.m. CTV reports that officials believe he had suffered a heart attack.
The man's identity has yet to be revealed, as police seek to notify his next of kin.
Sgt. Daniel Thibaudeau of the Sûreté du Québec confirmed that the man had been camping inside the festival grounds and had tickets to the event.
The event featured performances by artists like Rammstein, Queens of the Stone Age, Iggy Pop, Alexisonfire, the Offspring, Megadeath, Wu-Tang Clan, At the Drive-In, Eagles of Death Metal, Thursday and Meshuggah.
