The 2008 PLUG Award Nominations Announced

The 2008 PLUG Independent Music Awards nominations have been announced. Leading the way with seven nods each are Battles and Of Montreal, followed closely by Arcade Fire and Justice with six apiece. From today through February 8, 2008 fans can place votes for their favourite artists on the PLUG website. Acknowledging the best in various general categories - album, new artist, female artist, male artist, indie rock album, Americana album, metal album, hip-hop album, punk album, electronica/dance album, DJ album, and avant album, etc - as well as others like music videos, album packaging, concert venues, record labels and record stores. The PLUG jury, comprised of artists, label employees, journalists and music industry insiders decide on the nominees, but the voters decide on the winners.

Winners for each category will be announced at the PLUG Awards Ceremony and Concert on March 6, 2008 at Terminal 5 in New York City.
