Dessous Classics Volume 1: The Best Of 10 Years

BY Sarah FergusonPublished Feb 11, 2009

Deep house beats come down like rain while you're sitting on a fabric-based patio, surrounded by pillows, sipping a fuzzy navel, listening to the smooth beats of Dessous. After ten years, Steve Bug's house label in Germany has released this two-disc collection of twinkling classics, with a bonus mix by busy DJ, producer, keyboardist and percussionist Kevin Yost. His mix integrates many of the songs included among the full tracks in the collection, as well as other tunes from the label. This is very organic and percussive, '70s-inspired yet fresh, a synth-rich, harmonious ride through gem tracks. "On The Bridge" by Glowing Glisses is an African drum-infused vocal soundscape. "Wild Dub" by M:Landsky synthesizes the funkiest crossover of hand-claps and hand drums. "Lov Me" by Muddyloop is an uber-sexy dance floor tune with sparkle. Mountainously solid, low-key, groovy house music is something this label has ten years experience putting together. They've been using their time well.
