Watching Maylee Todd perform is like entering a portal into A Midsummer Night's Dream. Add a fog machine, some minor hallucinations and a bass player dressed in head-to-toe red cotton with a matching beret, and you have the most accurate description one can possibly come up with to explain last night's untamable CMW show at the Supermarket. It began whimsically as Todd sang softly and plucked away at her harp, until interrupted by some mood killing sound problems, which she likened to a "terrible hand job." Once this quiet pixie showed her inner beast, a show that began delicately became a wild adventure of fantastical bossa funk disco, closing with a cowbell and a Patrice Rushen cover for good measure.
