Echo and the Bunnymen "Lovers on the Run" / "Holy Moses" / "Market Town"
Published Apr 14, 2014British lifers Echo & the Bunnymen will release Meteorites on May 27 through 429 Records, and they've given us a taste of what to expect by sharing a few cuts.
Clocking in at nearly five minutes, "Lovers on the Run" is a soaring rock anthem that's arranged with orchestral drama and delivered with arena-worthy grandeur. It features numerous chorus repetitions designed to burn the titular phrase into your brain.
"Holy Moses," is a little bouncier and sunnier, although there's a similar dramatic flair to the choruses, and it gets heavier during the song's middle section.
Lastly, "Market Town" is a bright groove that spends most of its seven-and-and-half minute runtime riding an insistent, toe-tapping rhythm. The arrangement ebbs and flows, and there are a few breakdowns and psychedelic flourishes along the way.
