Amazon's audiobook platform Audible has announced the launch of a new podcast called Locked Together, which arrives today.
The new comedy podcast will feature duo appearances by Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, Jimmy Carr and Katherine Ryan, Sarah Millican and Jason Manford, Jennifer Saunders and Dawn French, Sharon Horgan and Rob Delaney, Tez Ilyas and Sindhu Vee, and Paul Whitehouse and Harry Enfield, as well as People Just Do Nothing's MC Grindah, DJ Beats, DJ Steves and Chabuddy G.
Each episode will see the respective pairs talking about how they're spending time in isolation, sharing anecdotes about moments of happiness and comedy while they're locked in. Audible will also be donating a fixed fee to charity for each episode.
Here's a synopsis from Audible's website:
Top comedian friends, who like the rest of the nation are in lockdown, get in touch with each other from their respective homes to have a conversation about how they're getting on. These are warts-and-all chats, home recorded by the stars themselves, as they try to find the positive and even funny in these extraordinary times.
Speaking with Deadline, Sharon Horgan said of the new pod, "It's a strange and challenging time for a lot of people at the moment, but this series will go a small ways to helping raise money for a number of important causes. It was a real pleasure to take part and I'm happy to see companies like Audible doing their bit."
Carr added, "Unfortunately this time, laughter is not the best medicine. But hopefully, these conversations will help people feel a little lighter as they listen to Katherine Ryan and I chatting nonsense about the strange, strange times that we find ourselves in."
The eight-episode pod is available to stream for free now over at Audible.
