Missy Elliott has revealed that a panic attack sent her to the emergency room just hours before she was scheduled to join Katy Perry on stage at the Super Bowl halftime show in 2015.

The legendary MC was speaking with Good Morning America about her upcoming induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame when she opened up about her chronic battle with anxiety.

"I didn't know how many people watch the Super Bowl, so when I did it, I ended up in the emergency room," she recalled. "My anxiety kicked in. It was a secret, and then the day before, people started whispers, like, 'I think Missy's coming out on Katy Perry's set,' and I started freaking out. So, the wee hours of the morning before the Super Bowl, before I performed, I was at the emergency room."

She says she's grateful for the recent surge of awareness and acceptance surrounding mental health.

"It feels good to be in a time now where you can talk about it," she said. "Because you realize there's a lot of people that suffer from anxiety."

Tomorrow (November 3), Elliott will become the first-ever female rapper inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Watch her full Good Morning America interview below as she discusses her relationship with fellow inductees, anxiety, TikTok and more.
