Barack Obama has pretty good taste! Every year, the former U.S. president shares his surprisingly hip year-end lists, and now he has revealed his favourite songs and movies of 2018.

Like with last year, the list is heavy on hip-hop stars, including JAY Z and Beyoncé ("APESHIT," as the Carters), J. Cole ("Kevin's Heart"), Chance the Rapper ("My Own Thing," featuring Joey Purp), Jay Rock ("Wow Freestyle") and Cardi B ("I Like It," featuring Bad Bunny and J Balvin). He's also got a taste for pop and R&B, including Janelle Monáe ("Make Me Feel") and Leon Bridges ("Bad Bad News").

Beyond that, there are releases from classic artists like Brandi Carlile ("Every Time I Hear That Song") and Prince ("Mary, Don't You Weep" from Piano & A Microphone 1983), plus a shoutout for the late Nancy Wilson.

And lest you think Obama wasn't listening to enough indie rock in 2018, he also included Kurt Vile's "One Trick Ponies" and Courtney Barnett's "Need a Little Time."

As for his movies, he mentioned some of Exclaim!'s favourites of the year like Black Panther, BlacKkKlansman, Eighth Grade and Won't You Be My Neighbour — plus the underrated fave Support the Girls.
