Featuring earnest explanations of the already fairly direct lyrical content in the album sleeve, Your Demise come across as engaging based on passion and energy alone, although they rely a bit too much on reinterpreting other bands' riffs to outrun some of the genre's more established acts. They play a mosh-y yet fairly straightforward brand of metalcore somewhere between Comeback Kid's up-tempo, compulsively anthemic approach and the stylized beat down of early Bury Your Dead. Oh, and they do dub-step and jungle as well. While I appreciate the attempt at diversification, Your Demise aren't Candiria and are not at a point with their songwriting where experimentation this unfocused and randomly placed will do anything but clutter the album unnecessarily. Regardless, Ignorance Never Dies is a solid sophomore effort that has the potential to break the group to a much wider audience. Here's hoping they'll trim the fat for their next release though.
