Young Widows Announce Tour, Seven-Inch Series

BY Josiah HughesPublished Aug 26, 2008

Formed out of the ashes of Breather Resist, Louisville, KY’s Young Widows are a force to be reckoned with. This is demonstrated on Old Wounds, their forthcoming sophomore effort and first release for Temporary Residence Ltd. However, in a recent interview with Exclaim!, vocalist/guitarist Evan Patterson suggested there will be many releases to come with the experimental label, beginning with a set of split seven-inches due early in 2009.

"Temporary Residence is going to put out four split seven-inches at the beginning of next year with the [songs left over from the Old Wounds sessions],” Patterson told Exclaim! "One’s with Bonny ‘Prince’ Billy, one’s with Melt Banana, and one’s with Pelican. We’re still working on deciding who’s going to do the fourth one. It was really an honour to find out that Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy wanted to do a split. He’s from Louisville and he has so much music history here. I think he’s an amazing musician.”

While you lose your mind in anticipation for the releases, you can catch Young Widows on a flurry of tour dates this fall, including Canadian stops in Toronto, Hamilton, Ottawa, Montreal, Truro, New Glasgow, and Halifax for the Halifax Pop Explosion.
