Xiu Xiu have unveiled another twisted sonic assault from their upcoming Angel Guts: Red Classroom LP, this time offering up the harrowing, minimalist synth-screecher "Lawrence Liquors."
The backbone of the track is a decayed, two-note synth sequence, which supports the uncomfortable shushed musings from leader Jamie Stewart, here mumbling about everybody being all wrinkled-up. As the song drills on, a series of psyche-shattering keyboard noise and shrieks are brought into the mix. It's unnerving and beautiful at the same time. You can check the high-tension piece out in the player down below.
As previously reported, Angel Guts: Red Classroom is a tableaux exploring ideas of "racialized sex, double suicide, double penetration, criminality, fear of physical harm." It drops February 4 through Polyvinyl Records, ahead of the band's North American tour.
