Wolves In the Throne Room Announce North American Tour

BY Keith CarmanPublished Mar 17, 2009

Olympia, WA's Wolves In the Throne Room may generally be considered black metal but if one is to delve further into their sound on any of their three releases - most notably recent effort Black Cascade - there is an undeniable influx of Scandinavian metal, punk and virtually every other heavy sub-genre imaginable. It's just cloaked in the bleak mysticysm of metal.

Regardless, the band and music are unique enough that a paper as stuffy as The New York Times liked it, stating that, "The group's music is swirlier and noisier and more cathartic than most black metal; its long pieces reward your attention with real musical narrative."

The opportunity to fully embrace their ethereal sound draws nigh too. The quartet of guitarist/vocalist Nathan Weaver, drummer Aaron Weaver, guitarist Will Lindsay and bassist Ross Sewage have just announced that their North American headlining tour will kick off in May. Supported by Krallice, A Storm Of Lights, Thrones and various local acts, the tour hits Canada mid-month for three stops, so keep those talons honed.
