What Seas, What Shores

'Spiritual Nap Machine' (album stream)

BY Sarah MurphyPublished Sep 11, 2015

Windsor's What Seas, What Shores have been teasing the release of their latest LP Spiritual Nap Machine over the course of the year, and the final record is ready to arrive next week. Before it does, though, Exclaim! has got an exclusive early stream of the album in its entirety.

The eight-song offering hears the experimental instrumental outfit weaving their way through an array of eccentric influences, resulting in their own unique blend of math-rock, post-punk and ambient sound.

Previously heard cuts like "Czar Bomba" and "Spiritual Nap Machine" set the tone for the album, which guides the listener on a meandering sonic journey that ranges from softer, dreamy pieces like "Texas" and "Blank of America" to angular, noise-heavy tracks like "Gugelhupf" and latter half of "The Ibex."

You can hear the intoxicating blend of styles right now by giving Spiritual Nap Machine a listen in the player below. The album is officially out on September 19 via Mudtown Records.
