Washed Out (a.k.a. Ernest Greene) is releasing his first full-length record in four years with Mister Mellow, and the entire thing is available for you to mellow out with right here.
Arriving today through Stones Throw/Arts & Crafts, the record finds Greene guiding listeners through the "overblown and overdramatized" life of a young adult over the course of 12 tracks. Sonically, Mister Mellow moves away from the synth-driven sounds of Greene's earlier work in favour of plunderphonics-rooted production informed by free jazz, hip-hop and psych.
The album also features a full-length visual counterpart using collage, claymation, hand-drawn and stop-motion animation that is "a reaction against the sterile, hyper-realistic renderings of most modern digital-based art."
