Vote Robot

An astructural electro-acoustic recording that left many impressions. Among them was the sensation of being in a SETI (Search for Extra-Terrestrial Intelligence) control room, with its erratic bursts of noise, listening to atmospheric radio emissions from the galaxies. The assortment of sounds featured here may be identified as akin to John Oswald's Plunderphonics and Systemisch-era Oval. Whereas Oswald's work may seem more chaotic, Oval has a more rigorous rhythmic structure. Swinging between these polarities is Vote Robot. Hints of mechanical sound structure dissipate into static noise glitches that turn once again into something resembling form, accompanied by some unsettling tracks along with warmly familiar mechanical sounds. An ideal CD to play at the random setting. Another thought that kept going through my head while listening to this recording was "what would happen if electronics were to mimic the subtly chaotic sounds of a forest?"
