Bon Iver buddies Volcano Choir have a new album called Repave due out on September 3 via Jagjaguwar, and now the Justin Vernon-featuring band have rolled out a track from the collection with "Byegone."
The song isn't too much of a departure from the solemn grandeur of Vernon's work as Bon Iver, although it's perhaps a little more rock-oriented. It features minimal guitar drones, soft piano chords, and waves of static that swell to pounding. riff-driven crescendos.
