'How Far Nostalgia Takes You' (Gob tribute LP) (album stream)

It's been some 20 years since Langley, BC-based punkers Gob kicked off their lengthy career, and the band are getting a proper toasting via today's (October 29) release of Stay Asleep Production's tribute LP, How Far Nostalgia Takes You.

The 11-song compilation flies by with speedy pop-punk salutes mostly aimed at the band's self-titled 1994 EP ("Custer's Last One Night Stand") and their proper first full-length Too Late, No Friends ("You're Too Cool," "Asshole TV"), but we do get a somewhat gruffer hardcore vocal out of Adelleda for their take on How Far Shallow Takes You's "Beauville."

Veering off from a punky path is the closing cover of "Extra Extra," which has the Old Wives re-imagining it with bluegrass banjo. Later pop-rock songs like "I Hear You Calling" and "Give Up the Grudge" were skipped altogether.

If you're a mid-'90s pop-punk fan from Canada, you may want to toss on your Gob-issued toilet T-shirt, crack open a bottle of soda and start burping like the band's Theo Goutzinakis while giving the tribute a spin down below.
