Vancouver's Revered Share Eclectic Sophomore LP 'With Some Amusement.'

Vancouver prog-pop experimenters Revered are back with a new album. The duo of songwriter Emmett Hall and producer Pietro Sammarco will release their LP With Some Amusement. — yes, that's a period in the album title — on June 3, and Exclaim! has the premiere ahead of time.

The 11-song album is a wild ride that touches on vintage pop-soul ("The Last Great Thing"), existential children's jingles ("Wasn't Blessed") and futuristic neo-classical hip-hop ("Priceless"). Featured guests include Hall's Sunday Service comedy pal Aaron Read, Basstronaut's Sam Davidson, touring Destroyer member Colin Cowan, and drummers Kevin Romain and Ken Lawson.

The whole thing is tied together with a playful sense of humour and theatrical, prog-inspired complexity. As a press release puts it: "With acerbic bite and tongue ever in cheek, Emmett Hall explores the derisive glorification of self-deprecation while bleeding out an earnest sentiment from every track."

The band will release With Some Amusement. with a free Vancouver release show on June 3 at the Lido. Local synth-pop artist Devours will open.
