Over the last couple of years, Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio has issued a few short-form electronic releases under the mononym Baio. Now, he's signed a record deal in anticipation of his first solo full-length.
On Twitter, Baio announced that he has signed with Glassnote Music. While there's no firm information about his debut album currently available, he promised that it would be out this summer.
Update: Baio said in a press release [via Pitchfork] that the album would contain "Bowie and Ferry-influenced pop songs and dumbsmart arena techno."
Meanwhile, Baio played bass on a couple cuts on the new album from the Very Best.

I'm floored to announce that I've signed to @Glassnotemusic. My first solo album will be coming out this summer. pic.twitter.com/D1IBOXGnVU

It remains to be seen whether the album will be made up of entirely new material, or if he'll reuse some of the tracks from his prior releases. If you put together all the releases on his Discogs page, that would add up to 10 songs. Most recently, Baio's "On&On&On&On" / "Missive" 12-inch came out back in the fall.
