Valley Arena

Thursday front-man Geoff Rickley has moved from leading one of screamo’s favourite outfits to discovering new ones. One of the first bands on his Astro Magnetics label is Long Beach, California’s the Valley Arena, an arty post-punk band that thankfully draws most of its influences far away from the current screamo scene. Fuzz-filled and moody, the Valley Arena tap into the musical vein of Fugazi or Jawbox while maintaining some decently original songwriting. Definitely worthy of multiple listens.
