Ugly Beats

The Ugly Beats blast out of Austin, Texas with enough garage hustle to transform a nunnery into a raging dance party. With swelling organ riffs, hopping rhythms and resounding vocals, the group breathes life into Nuggets-style rock. While other contemporary garage bands owe more to the Stooges than the Kinks, the Ugly Beats have their roots planted firmly in ’60s pop. There’s also a little bit of the Cynics (the Beats’ record label-owners) thrown into the mix for good measure. Bring on the Beats! is an impressive collection of go-go boot-stomping rock.
