Tricky Woo

Trouble

BY Craig DanielsPublished Feb 1, 2001

You just can't stop the rock and this is the proof! This seven-inch brings together the American rock institution of Estrus records and Montreal high-energy freaks Tricky Woo for the very first time. Side one, "Trouble," sounds as if it could have almost been pulled from their breakthrough Sometimes I Cry sessions, and has a sudden "cold start" that jolts the listener right off the bat. Wicked riffs, rocking solos and their trademark vocals make for another winner. Side two, "Rock and Roll Gypsy," is a slower, stadium rock stomper that has a bit of an AC/DC feel in parts. It tells the story of a veteran rocker who has figured out that "revolution never paid the rent" but is still hell bent to "bring it on home!" which is exactly what Tricky Woo do on this great little single.
