Toronto indie rock duo Meguro have announced their debut album, Brilliant Explosions, is coming out on July 21.

Meguro consists of Bob MacKendrick on guitar and vocals and Ian Borak on drums. The two met at a party and started playing in a band together before leaving to form their own duo. Their resulting debut is a culmination of three years of work and fine-tuning, recorded between 2017 and 2020 with the help of Nixon Boyd (Hollerado, Anyway Gang), who produced and mixed the eight-track album.

Previously released singles, "Forgotten Song," "You Destroy Me" and "Gloria," will be featured on the album along with the epic eight-minute single "Shadows," which features a juicy guitar solo by Josée Caron of Canadian rock band Partner.

"The song was inspired by epics such as Bruce Springsteen's 'Jungleland' and Tokyo Police Club's 'Argentina I,II,III,'" MacKendrick and Borak said in a press release. "We wanted to create something that felt like a journey, ending in a completely different place from where it started."
