In the span of just a few weeks, Toronto's west-end Hard Luck Bar has managed to reach its fundraising goal in order to stay afloat during the province's coronavirus lockdown.
Venue staff announced the news yesterday via social media, thanking their patrons for raising over $35,000 to help cover rent and other expenses. "Looking forward to our stage/venue being filled and crushing bottles of Crown with you all again! (hopefully sooner rather than later)," the venue's post reads.
Last week, fundraiser organizer George Diamantouros posted a thank-you video online when the venue's GoFundMe was just a few thousand dollars shy of its goal, saying he was "overwhelmed by the response" to their fundraising campaign.
"We're almost there and we can't thank you enough!!" He wrote in a post. "When this started last week we never dreamed that we would receive the love that you have shown us! Even though we're still shy of our goal we're now far more optimistic about the future of live music and this city. Please stay safe and keep supporting local, and keep on rocking!!"

Last week, Cherry Cola's Rock 'n' Rolla launched its own fundraiser in order to stay afloat amid shutdowns.
