Returning with their incredible, gap-spanning take on moderately melodic and primeval metal, Vancouver, BC ragers Titans Eve deliver some creative, impressively cohesive work on latest full-length The Divine Equal. Drawing inspiration from new and old sources, songs such as "Tides of Doom," "Becoming the Demon" and "Nightfall" manage to offer up the finer aspects of luminaries such as Metallica, circa ...And Justice For All, while infusing bits of In Flames, Darkest Hour and even At The Gates. Wise enough to inject a few floating background vocals, in order to keep songs flowing, but using them reservedly, Titans Eve's dexterity finds them running circles around previous work while still hitting important touchstones. While the effort is anthemic and epic, yet wisely grounded, The Divine Equal does have its moments of sameness and early Arch Enemy-ish production values ― drums that feel like wooden blocks and guitars a bit too thin to rage. Otherwise, The Divine Equal is a solid bout of metal.
