Thighs

Never let it be said that energy and enthusiasm aren't important elements to a young band's success. Toronto, ON crew Thighs' debut is teeming with both. Hiding in between are scuzzy bass guitar grooves indebted to Death From Above 1979 and spastic guitar-and-vocal combinations reminiscent of the dirtiest Blues Explosion material. The band are an amalgamation of members from Toronto noiseniks like Odonis Odonis, while the songs leap forward three steps before being dragged back two. But where other groups have harnessed this kind of chaotic mess for good, Thighs are more preoccupied with noise than playing songs. That said, it's clear that they are having a hell of a good time. Should they choose to make a follow-up, my money's on it being a stunner. Plus, I bet they slay live.
