CMW in Search of Songwriters
Canadian Music Week (CMW) is currently seeking self-published and non-published songwriters to apply for Canadian Radio Star the 14th annual National Songwriting Competition. Presented by CMW along with Standard Radio, the contest will be decided by a combination of public voting and a panel of industry experts assembled by the Songwriters Association of Canada. Regional winners will be announced during January 22 to 31, 2007, with the grand prize winner being revealed on March 9, 2007 at a special CMW event. The grand prize consists of $10,000 in cash (first runner-up receives $2,500); 30 hours of mixing and mastering time from Metalworks recording studio; TASCAM 2488 24-Track Digital Portastudio; Neumann TLM 49 Professional Studio Microphone; one free digital radio station upload to any format of choice by RDR Music Group in conjunction with DMDS; a National Radio Promotion Package courtesy of dB Promotions and Publicity Inc.; and complete website design, one-year web hosting and customised enhanced CD package from J.E.T. Created by Vancouver-born President and CEO Arthur Griffiths, the website is designed to help up-and-coming musicians get seen and heard through their own terms. Using leading edge internet web streaming technology, Nextposure allows music videos to run in rotation within hours or uploading. With better quality than television (meaning YouTube cant hold a candle to it), theres no buffering or downloading necessary to view a live webcast.
