It's not often that a wordy writer with clever narratives is able to shape them into great pop songs, but Toronto singer/songwriter Steve Singh pulls it off with surprising aplomb. His lyric sheet, filled with amusing character portraits ("The Suburb That Swallowed A Man," "Sweeter Sweater Girl") and short stories ("Medication"), is entertaining enough. Added to his melodic gifts and crisp, clean production, Singh's six-song EP is an attention-grabbing calling card that should open plenty of doors for him.
