Chicago's the Stand blend infectious '60s soul and bubblegum pop with some two-tone ska and come up with a winning combination on their debut. With seven members, including dual male/female vocalists, a sax player and organ, they have a danceable, upbeat sound that you can't help but move to - think the Committments covering the second Specials album. Included among the ten tracks is a cover of Rare Breed's bubblegum hit "Beg, Borrow and Steal." But it fizzles out at the end with a five-minute mid-tempo number called "Irene."
