Sic Alps' Mike Donovan Unveils 'WOT' Solo Album

BY Gregory AdamsPublished Aug 1, 2013

Right when acid-washed psych-pop crew Sic Alps have called it quits last month, the band's Mike Donovan hinted that a solo debut would be on the way shortly. True to his word, Donovan has now revealed all the details behind WOT, which will hit stores October 15 through Drag City.

A press release notes that the California psych artist's first solo effort is "rife with riffing tunes" and veers from his old band's output to focus on "front-porch 21st-century j'accuse-tic blues" and "elegiac slo-mo rock'n'roll." Touchstones referenced in the press sheet include classic Rolling Stones, as well as the Plastic Ono Band.

You can stream the acoustic blues-slingin' album opener "New Fieldhand Bop," a song that has Donovan singing about making peace with the past, down below.

Donovan has a handful of tour dates to get through this summer, though the trip takes place down in the U.S. Regardless, you can see the show info down below.
