We already got a taste of the Shins' next album Port of Morrow via "Simple Song," but those dying for some more music from James Mercer and co. can breathe easy now that the troupe have unveiled a video for that first single's B-side, "September."
The understated vid acts as a pseudo-karaoke clip, with Mercer's smoothly sung words scrawling across the screen as the song gets spun via turntable or cassette tape. As previously reported, on top of traditional formats, the new album is apparently being released on reel-to-reel tape, so, fittingly, the clip pumps the breezy, bossa nova-styled acoustic guitar and bells-driven track out of that fetishized relic as well.
"Simple Song" and "September" will pop up on a seven-inch single on February 14, and both tracks will also be available on Port of Morrow, which arrives on March 20. Both items come through Columbia/Aural Apothecary.
Along with the new video, the Shins have rolled out some U.S. tour dates, which you can view here.
